As you know for those who have been following my youtube channel I just did a post about values that I wish to live by this year. One of those is that of simplifying. To start off this whole simplify theme in my life I have decided that I want to start off with my wardrobe. As you can see by this picture it is a huge ugly mess of clothing everywhere. By minimizing my clothing, the hopes is I will also be better organized.
Everything thrown in a pile
After getting everything thrown in the pile, I organized the dresses, shirts, pants and skirts etc into their own individual piles. After getting them in the piles I just picked the items that made me happy and I knew for certain I was going to wear. If I wasn’t 100% sure I put it into a different pile. So I had piles for YES, Maybe and NO. I then went through the Maybe pile and kept what I wanted and discarded the rest. PRESTO!!!
At the beginning I was pretty gung ho and thought I could do a 10 item wardrobe but then realized it was still a little too soon for me to do 10 items so I have done about a 15 -17 item wardrobe. (depends on what you call outfits) I had also managed to get rid of about 7 pairs of shoes. Hopefully I get to that point where I can get it down to only 10 outfits.
Why Minimize your Wardrobe?
- More time to do productive things
- Organizing your wardrobe is now a breeze
- Have more money in the bank
- Less clutter in your wardrobe = Less mess (especially for me)
- Packing for trips is easier
- Sense of clarity and clearness in your bedroom!!!
Just going through my clothing and purging them was very therapeutic and liberating. I am now excited to open my wardrobe and not feel overwhelmed from the mess and disorder. I am also excited to apply this idea into the other areas of my life, kitchen, bathroom, linen, decor etc.
Advice for those wanting to start:
- define your style (Vintage, Hipster, Boho, Retro etc) This was the hardest part for me.
- read about other minimalists and how they do it (we all have our own ways)
- decide how much you can manage and go for it!!!
- read 12 steps to minimizing your wardrobe or lots of fun youtube videos on it
Do you love organizing? There is a difference with picking up and tidying up and actually organizing… I love it when I can open up a drawer and know that it’s not a whole bunch of things stuffed in there so we don’t have to see it regularly. When everything is organized and in its perfect place I feel like my whole world is in harmony. So today I have some fun ways to organize your home to ensure there is less clutter and only the things that you really need.
1 DIY Shelves: Using old belts and block of wood!!! Love this vintage classy idea. Super cute and clean and easy to make.
2. Shadow Foam – Awesome way to keep a tidy drawer with everything in its place. You will never have to go rummaging around looking for something because you will know instantly if it’s gone. To get your own shadow foam visit shadowfoam.com
3. Simple Paper Clips… You can spray paint them to make all sorts of fun colours to match your office space or bedroom.
4. Old Trunks double as storage space and cute tables
5. Chair as an end table.. Even better if you paint it to match the colour scheme of your bedroom. When you get bored with it you can switch it up and use it for actually sitting.
6. If you are a sewing ammature or glue gun expert like me this is definitely a fun crafts project. You can use this for almost anything small you want. If you want this can also be hidden behind a door or closet.
What are your ways that you like to decorate and secretly organize at the same time? How do you manage to keep an organized mess?

There are not many things that can blend into hectic mornings and casual evenings as smoothly as a Shirt Dress can. That’s why we can never have too many of them. But what exactly is a shirt dress? Basically, it’s a version of a shirt – usually buttoned down – sometimes oversized – but always long enough so that it looks like a shirt, but acts like a dress.
So when it’s something this plain and simple to carry off, it’s usually the shoes that set the tone, and perhaps even the shirt’s fabric, cut and design. Your shirt dress can be cinched at the waist with a thin belt or layered with many thin belts or leave it unbelted for some shapeless sophistication.
Depending on the style you’re looking for, mix and match your Shirt Dress with these shoes and walk the talk.
1. Ballerinas – Great for a short sleeved, straight cut Shirt Dress because it gives off a laid back Saturday afternoon vibe. In fact, what can be cooler than pairing it with a loose fitted Denim shirt dress combined with a bling belt?
2. Stiletto Sandals – Going for effortless glam? Wear these with a Shirt Dress that’s not cinched at the waist to create a balanced silhouette. An oversized dress with sexy heels is the bomb!
3. Brogues- They look great with a belted shirt dress or not. Team it with a leather jacket and jewelry for sophisticated style.
4. Chunky Heels – Match the modern dress shirt with a 70s twist.
5. Ankle Boots – These are perfect for a very boho chic style. Whether it’s for casual office wear or a date on the weekend, this style will pair perfectly with a messenger bag and leather jacket.
6. Classic Pumps – Here’s something that make the shirt dress appropriate for office! Think dark colored or crisp white slightly longer Shirt Dresses. With a blazer on top and a large bag, the overall ensemble will give you an air of effortless professionalism.
7. Stilettos – These amp up the style with any outfit, and more so with a silky Shirt Dress!
Lastly, have fun with the Shirt Dress. Carry a massive bag and tie a shirt around your waist… hobo, much? Or wear a lacy contrasting colored spaghetti top inside. Roll up the sleeves and wear thin layered necklaces with your Shirt Dress. Remember, since the shirt dress is uber casual, keeping your accessories, make-up and hair classy is the key to pulling it off. Think messy bun, French plaid or slicked back ponytail and you’re good to go!

***Product Review and GIVEAWAY!!!****
Today I am excited to be doing a review on Funky Giraffe baby bibs. These are the cutest most darling bibs on the market. I am not a crazy fan of baby prints but I love the more classic prints. Hence why I choose more the polka dot and stripe prints. They are also useful because they are gender neutral for kids down the road. The mustache print was for just incase we had a boy next.. jokes. Anyways the photo above are the bibs that I ordered. I ordered all of them in the small size and only one in the extra-large.
I have been doing baby led weaning with Miss A, which if you know is messy eating bonanza. And if you have seen me feeding her you know I rarely if ever use a bib just because I don’t have very many and I am kind of lazy so when you have a screaming baby wanting food I just give her the food not really thinking about her clothes until after the fact of the matter. Which results in a nasty laundry pile waiting for me!!! Yikes… So you can imagine how super excited and relieved I was when I was able to get my hands on these bibs!!!!! I could just leave them on and not worry about finding it when it came time for eating.
When placing my order, I found their website is super easy to navigate and straightforward to use. I got an email saying they received my order and another email saying my order was despatched which was perfect for me because I like to track my packages, so I know when to expect them. It arrived on time and the order was correct all the bibs were in perfect condition. No fuss or hassle!
The bibs are made of cotton on the front and polyester on the back. I love cotton seeing it’s so breathable. She isn’t drooling a tonne so I am not 100% sure on absorbency. But I am now prepared for when she starts teething we will have some bibs ready for her With the food she did eat nothing went through to her clothes and she used the bib the entire day. With the floral print when she got some food stains on it which was fine because it blended well with the floral haha I also love that there are adjustable clips on the back but I am guttered that I didn’t order them in the bigger size because I now have to clip them on the second clip. So rookie mistake for me for not checking the sizing before I ordered, I just ordered what looked cute.
The only downside to this bib is that because she is self feeding she always ends up with food on her lap. But I guess you can’t have the best of both worlds all the time right… And personally I would probably buy some more practicable bibs for using around the home and will be saving these cute bibs when we are going out and about. But who says you can’t use them anywhere right…
- Style: 10/10
- Functionality: 7/10

I have now made two crafts with this DIY mod podge recipe. And I don’t think I will ever be needing to buy any particular modge podge for this type of project. I used this recipe but adjusted it after reading the reviews. I used this for my Lampshade project and my Bowl Project. If you are doing something different I would test it in a smaller ratio just in case it doesn’t turn out quite right. The magic modpodge recipe
2 Cups of Flour
1 Cup of Sugar
Between 1-3 cups of Water but keep adding until it’s perfect for your project (not too thick or too watery)
Add Tbsp of Oil
In a pot threw in the flour and sugar and turned the stove on to medium heat
I then added the water slowly so it wouldn’t get super clumpy
I kept adding more and more water until I thought it was right thickness
Added the oil and mixed
Doing this Yarn lampshade has been on one of my to do lists since we moved into our house. I had initially wanted to do a doily lampshade as they went along much better with my vintage theme I have going on in my living room. But I didn’t find enough doilies to do this project and I had plenty of yarn! I have finally come around to doing it. Yay and it was a lot easier than I had expected.
I didn’t want to spend any money of course on expensive big balloons. Initially I was going to use a balloon but I really wanted something bigger and not a oval shape. So I ended up just using those inflatable balls I borrowed from my neighbor’s baby. I know I’m pretty cheap asking to borrow something I can buy for $3 at the most. But anywho they were kind enough to let me borrow this ball and so I got cracking on this project. Light fixtures are one thing I love but feel like I shouldn’t spend too any money on.
I started off by making the modge podge recipe. Yes I made that too. I didn’t buy the expensive kind so I found this recipe here. But I adjusted the recipe and made a perfect one to my liking here. The adjusted recipe was perfect for this project. I used the entire amount. I was pretty happy with the entire result of it. I don’t think it will ever get hot enough to burn the yarn as we hardly use this light. I was worried how I was going to place it on the light fixture but the yarn is easy enough to move around and cut to fit around whatever fixture you have. I started the project at about 8am and once everything was all said and done and drying out in the sun for the whole day I finished the project at about 8pm. If you want to be extra cautious you should leave it for a complete 24 hours. But I was a little bit too excited. haha
So if you want to make your own light fixture here are the things you may need Or take a look at this easy video tutorial
- Yarn – A full one preferable depending on how big your project is
- Modge Podge or Wallpaper glue or my DIY Recipe
- Balloon or Ball
- Tshirt you don’t mind getting dirty
Good luck and have fun!!! Let me know if the comments below if it worked or didn’t!!! Or let me know of some crafts projects you would like to see!!!

Firstly I would like to start off by saying, I am so grateful that we get to go on sunday to church and to worship with one another and to learn from one another. I am also so grateful for a loving Father in Heaven who answers prayers and knows the desires of our hearts. I know that of course he doesn’t answer them when and how we want them but when He knows it’s right for us.
Why do I feel such gratitude you may be wondering… Well today in Sunday School I felt like Heavenly Father answered one of my many concerns. For a really long time I have always debated in my mind the idea of dressing the way that I want! I always questioned why should I follow the council of the strength of youth? why should I dress modestly? why does what we wear even matter because I know the Lord looketh on the heart and not the outward appearance. I personally have a love of tattoos, I love crazy piercings and I love outrageous colour hair and I am always tempted to do one of them these days, although I know that it does go against the counsel of our brethren. I know it may seem silly to many of you out there but I feel that is one of my many weaknesses. To me I feel like the way I dress expresses who I am, how I feel on different days, it’s my own personal way of expression without words.
To start off the class the sunday school teacher posed a question. “What we need to do in order to maintain the Spirit with us?” We then moved on to a deep in-depth discussion about the commandments vs councils from the brethren. Then at the end of the class we ended on this scripture 1st Corinthians 6.19
19. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? 20. For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.
It was like something just struck me on the head and I was dumbstruck. Firstly My body is a temple! I know that we hear that all the time that sometimes it loses meaning. But if we continue and actually think about it our body is a temple FOR the Spirit, you house the Holy Spirit in your body. You yes YOU.. house one of the most powerful SPIRIT in your body!!! Just ponder that for a moment. (It’s like the most powerful person in the world coming to visit your house what would you do?) I don’t think we ever stop to contemplate that ever!!! So of course we need to look after our body in thoughts, words and actions and also physically. (Would you just clean the inside of your house and not mow or clean the outside of your house if you had a special visitor) We need to treat our body as a temple so the Spirit will want to be there. I know for me I need the Spirit in my life, I need it to guide my every move and footstep, I need the Spirit to stay with me because I am so dependant on It for the vital things I do as a mother and a wife every minute of every day. I know for me when I dress “immodestly” I feel that my behaviour changes as well, and I know that others treat me differently as well. (This may not be the same for others but it is for me)
And my second but vital point is “We are not our own we have been bought with a price”!!!! Yikes that is powerful!!! Yes I am an individual but my body is used to glorify God not bring attention to myself. I know I am totally guilty of this many times I get caught up in how I dress so people can look at me, look at my style, look how trendy, funky, crazy I am!!! Little do I know how much this distracts me from becoming the daughter that God wants me to be. My purpose here on earth is to bring others to Christ, for when people see me they should see Christ not see me TRACY!!! I am supposed to be an instrument in His hands to build up His kingdom. Our bodies our instruments to be used for good not an ornament on display. Before you walk out that door out into the world whether its school, work, or church does your entire countenance say “I am a daughter or son of God?” Ask yourself “Will they see God through me or is my outfit or my behaviour too distracting and loud?” It is the whole package physical, words, thoughts and actions that will determine whether your Body is a Temple for the Holy Spirit of God.
Although the debate of modesty goes on every morning in front of the mirror, I know that Heavenly Father has given me my answer. It’s not easy especially with all media that satan uses to tell us to be more selfish and self-centered. But Heavenly Father has given us the Spirit to help us look beyond that so we can see our real purpose our real potential. That we are worth is immeasurable. You are not your own! You are more than what you can even comprehend!!!!!!
